Vision - Mission
The Guidance Department of the Lipa City Colleges is a service-oriented unit concerned in assisting students in promoting growth in their artistic, emotional, interpersonal, intellectual, physical, and spiritual needs, providing opportunities for students to achieve their full development as persons and become fully self-actualized individuals. The counselors work hand-in-hand with the administrators, faculty, and staff to be able to respond to such needs. The Department is guided by the LCCian values committed to educate and form students to become competent leaders. Through its programs and services, the Department commits itself to the development of students as authentic responsible leaders, who are service-oriented, socially concerned and competitive individuals.
General Objectives
The Guidance Department aims to provide assistance to an individual to become familiar with facts about himself --- his interests, qualities, previous development, and plans. It likewise seeks to help a person decide on what he wants, where he wants to go, what he needs to do, how he can do it, and how he can solve his own problems. Such programs and services are designed to meet the individual�s developmental needs including accepting one�s role, relating to others, achieving independence, selecting and preparing for an occupation, developing intellectual skills and concepts for civic competence, and desiring and achieving socially responsible behavior.
History
The Guidance Department being a service-oriented-unit, aims to render all the possible assistance it can give to every client. Through the years, since the time Lipa City Colleges was established, it was seen by the Administration as the number of enrollees increased that there was a need for the establishment of a Guidance Office that would guide and help students in their personal and psychological needs. The department holds both the High School and College.
The first Guidance Counselor of the school was Dr. Erlinda M. Garcia. This was in 1992 to 2002. She was the Guidance Counselor until she was appointed as the Dean of the Graduate School.
To fulfill the implementation of the activities of the department, Guidance Secretary in the person of Ms. Shiela M. Escartin was also placed. She started in the unit year 2000 up to the present.
Ms. Ritchelle Ann D. De Castro became the next Guidance Counselor. She served the Office for only a year � SY 2002-2003.
It was May,2003 up to present , when Mr. Aldwin R. Jose, took over the position in the Office as the Guidance Counselor. He put the system and intensified some of the guidance program and services through the formulation of a developmental plan, so as to give more services to the students�high school and college.
October of 2004 when Ms. Myra P. Alday was added to the Guidance Office as the Assistant Guidance Counselor supporting the Guidance Counselor in the execution of the plans and activities of the department.
Then on January, 2006 a restructuring of the office to fit the accreditation requirements was instituted as follows:
Mr. Aldwin R. Jose was assigned as Guidance Head while Ms. Myra P. Alday was designated as Guidance Counselor for College and an additional Guidance Counselor for High School in the person of Ms. Virgimin R. Panganiban was hired.
Last April, 2007 after the resignation of the College Guidance Counselor, a replacement was sought and was found in the person of Ms. Maybelle T. Magnaye.
In its services, the Guidance Department aims to assist its clients to become competent and committed leaders in the development of the nation.
