LCC Celebrates Milestone via its 60th Foundation Week

To commemorate its 60th founding anniversary, the Lipa City Colleges held a week-long celebration from November 19-24. With the theme “Working Together to Build a Better School,” the affair consisted of the following activities: Walk for A Cause, Field Demo, Inter-school Quiz Show, Search for LCC Idols, Mr. and Ms. LCC 2007 Coronation Night and Recognition of Outstanding Alumni, Employees’ Fun Games, Family Day, Employees’ Night, Students’ Variety Show, Exhibit, Motorcade, and Alumni Day.

Walk for A Cause saw the entire academic community, headed by no less than its President, Carlos Mojares, hopping through the city proper for the spirit of oneness. Ditto the Employees’ Fun Games and Employees Night which through fun and showcase of talents of both the teaching and non-teaching staff served as avenue for a deeper sense of belongingness to the institution. The Exhibit, on the other hand, served as a window of what the institution best offers as a result of concerted efforts of the different departments.

Not to be outdone, the students have their day in the field via the Field Demo which was a dance showdown of the different PE classes in the college level; Search for LCC Idols, a rip-off of an international singing stint that displayed the singing prowess of student participants; and the Students” Variety Show which turned out to be an eye-popping night of musical production numbers.

Cognizant of the importance of maintaining strong ties with the community, LCC in its Foundation Week also had the Family Day which saw parents of High School Students immersing themselves in various fun but meaningful activities; the Inter-school Quiz Show which had students from different schools within the locale battling it out for academic supremacy; and the Alumni Day that not only was a homecoming but also a program for the institution’s adopted communities.

Serving as highlights of the celebration were the Mr. and Ms. LCC 2007 Coronation Night and the Recognition of Outstanding Alumni. The former culminates the year-long fund drive to finance the school’s scholarship programs and was graced in by top-notch celebrities, Pops Fernandez and Isabelle Abiera as well as Lipa City Mayor, Honorable Oscar Gozos. The latter, on the other hand, had the following distinguished alumni being bestowed plaques of recognition: Major General Fernando I. Manalo of FAB (Military Service), Marcela M. Javier (Education), Honorable Lydio Lopez, Lipa City Vice Mayor (Public Service), Sr. Teresita Burias (Religious Service), and Augusto M. Tey (Business and Industry).
