SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS

In its continuing commitment to service, the Lipa City Colleges offers various scholarship programs to assist the deserving youths to acquire quality education. These grants are awarded not only to students who excel academically but also to those who exemplify distinctive athletic and performing arts abilities and commendable social involvement.

Apart from the institutional grants, educational assistance from various government and non-government organizations are likewise on hand. Thus, a high number of deserving students benefit from these privileges.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

The giving of scholarship grants is the prerogative of the institution following established rules and guidelines. Therefore, the administration reserves the right to grant, withhold, and / or withdraw such for duly-determined causes.

Following are the general guidelines applicable in the awarding of all scholarship programs:

  1. Taking and passing of the entrance exam is a pre-requisite to application for a grant.
  2. A scholarship grant is a non-transferable privilege given to qualified students.
  3. Application for a grant is done via registration at the Guidance Department.
  4. Only upon submission of the required documents will the grant be given.
  5. Only one grant may be availed of at a time.
  6. Except for specific cases, all grants are valid only for one academic year and cover only the regular tuition fees.
  7. Scholarship grants may be availed of only by students who carry a load prescribed by the curriculum.
  8. Continuance/availment of any scholarship grants requires presentation of credentials and accomplishment of Scholarship Program Form from the Student Affairs Office within the prescribed period.
  9. Disqualified scholars cannot re-avail of the benefits of the program.

INSTITUTIONAL SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS

A. Bonilla Scholarship Program

  1. Named in honor of the institution�s founders, the Ricardo Bonilla (for incoming college students) and Marcella Bonilla (for incoming high school students) scholarship program is offered to students who shall pass a highly competitive examination and a battery of interviews to be administered by the institution.

  2. a. College student-recipients shall be awarded a full scholarship on tuition and miscellaneous fees plus book allowance every semester. Continued benefits of the grant for the succeeding semesters shall be availed by maintaining a GPA of at least 1.75 with individual grades in all subjects not lower than 2.0.

  For the succeeding semesters, a recipient�s GPA and corresponding privilege are the following:

1.0 - 1.25 100% discount on tuition and miscellaneous fees
1.26 - 1.50 75% discount on tuition and miscellaneous fees
1.51 � 1.75 50% discount on tuition and miscellaneous fees

  2. b. High school student recipients shall be awarded a full scholarship on tuition and miscellaneous fees plus book allowance for one year. Continued benefits of the grant for the succeeding school years may be availed by maintaining a GWA of at least 89 or better with individual grades in all subjects not lower than 86.

  For the succeeding school years, a recipient�s GWA and corresponding privilege are the following:

GPA Benefits
100 - 97 100% discount on tuition and miscellaneous fees
93 - 86 75% discount on tuition and miscellaneous fees
89 - 92 50% discount on tuition and miscellaneous fees

  3. Qualified applicants must submit the following requirements within the prescribed period:

  1. Bonilla Scholarship Program Form (duly accomplished)
  2. Report Card (F-138) or Permanent Record (F-137-A)
  3. Certificate of Good Moral Character
  4. Birth Certificate (photocopy)
  5. 2 x 2 picture (3 pcs)
  6. 1 x 1 picture (2 pcs)

  4. This grant is open to freshmen.

B. Academic Scholarship Program

  1. This program is given to students who graduated with honors. Following are the benefits that may be received through this program upon enrolment:

Honors / Awards Benefits
Valedictorian 100% discount on tuition and miscellaneous fees. Books worth P1000.
Salutatorian 75% discount on tuition and miscellaneous fees. Books worth P750.
1st Honorable Mention 50% discount on tuition fees. Books worth P500.
2nd Honorable Mention 30% discount on tuition fees. Books worth P500.
3rd Honorable Mention 20% discount on tuition fees. Books worth P500.

C. Top Performers Award

  1. Given to old students who belong to the Top 10 of the institution but not enjoying any scholarship grants provided that the GPA is not less than 1.75 with no grades lower than 2.0.

  2. The grant is valid only for the semester following the one where the above criteria had been met. The student�s rank in the institution and the corresponding tuition fee discounts are as follows:

Ranks 4-10 25%

D. Athletics Scholarship Program

  1. Given to any bonafide student who meets the following requirements:

  1. holistic fitness to engage in athletic competitions
  2. good moral character
  3. exemplary performance as attested by a recommendation from both the student�s (for new / incoming students) and the institution�s assigned coach / trainor

  2. Recipient of this grant shall avail of 50 to 100% discount on tuition and miscellaneous fees and monthly allowances based on the scholar�s performance as assessed by the institution�s Sports Committee.

  3. To continuously avail of the grant, the recipient must have no failing grades, no disciplinary infractions and should abide by all the other rules and regulations of the institution.

E. Campus Journalism /Inter-school Competition Scholarship Programs

  Campus Journalism

  1. Staffers of the institution�s official publication may avail of this grant after passing a highly competitive screening.

  2. Qualified staffers shall each be given a 25% discount on tuition fees renewable every semester provided that he/she conscientiously attends to trainings as attested by the Adviser and with no failing grades during the previous semester.

  3. Higher tuition fee discounts apart from the above-mentioned may also be given upon a staffer�s qualifying and / or winning in competitions in different levels. Such are as follows:

local / division 30% Tuition fee discount
provincial 50% Tuition fee discount
regional 75% Tuition fee discount
national / international 100% Tuition fee discount
  Note: The discount shall be applicable on the semester when the competition is held.

  4. To avail of this grant, an Athletics / Performing Arts / Campus Journalism Scholarship Form must be secured, filled out, and submitted within the prescribed period.

  Inter-school Competition

Incoming and old students who won in inter-school competitions are given the following discounts on tuition fees:

1st placer 100%
2nd placer 75%
3rd placer 50%

  The discount is valid only for the student�s first semester in the institution.

F. Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Scholarship Program

  Given in recognition to students who exemplify active community involvement, this grant is given to both SK Chairs and Councilors regardless of residency.

  1. The initial grant consists of a 100% discount on tuition fees for SK Chairs and a 50% discount on tuition fees for SK Councilors, while 50% and 25% discounts on tuition fee respectively shall be given to transferees.

  2. The grant for the succeeding semesters may be availed of as long the student-recipients are in such posts and provided that they meet the following GPA requirements:

1.00 - 1.40 100%
1.41 - 1.75 75%
1.76 - 2.25 50%
2.26 - 2.50 25%

  Further, recipients must have no grades lower than 2.50 in all subjects.

  3. Old students who obtained a grade lower than 2.50 in the semester and won a post after that semester are qualified to apply for this grant, and from that point on, the above-mentioned grade requirements shall apply.

  4. To avail of this grant, qualified applicants must submit the following requirements during the prescribed period:

  1. SK Scholarship Program Form
  2. Oath of Office (2 copies)
  3. Certification from the Office of the Mayor (2 copies)

G. Student Assistant Scholarship Program

  1. Given to financially-disadvantaged students, this program provides its recipients education in exchange of specific work hours rendered in any of the offices of the institution.

  2. To avail of this program, a Student Assistance Program must be secured, filled out, and submitted within the prescribed period. The applicant must also undergo and pass a series of interviews and when admitted to the program, the recipient must have a passing grade in all of the subjects that he / she is enrolled in, otherwise, he / she shall be disqualified to further avail of the program.

H. Recruitment Privilege

  1. Students/parents/teachers who shall be able to bring in at least 5 or more new enrollees shall be given a 100% discount on tuition fees for one semester (for college students) or for one school year (for high school students).

2. To avail of this privilege, a Recruitment Privilege Form must be secured, filled out, and submitted within the prescribed period.

I. Family Privilege

  1. Available for a group of at least 3 siblings who are all enrolled in the institution at the same semester, this privilege consists of a 50% discount on tuition fees for the sibling who last enrolled.

  2. To avail of this privilege, the qualified students must submit the following requirements within the prescribed period:

  1. Family Privilege Application Form (duly accomplished)
  2. Registration Form (validated)
  3. Birth Certificates of the grantee and his / her siblings (photocopy)

J. Employee Privilege

  1. This privilege entitles the legitimate spouse and children of permanent employees of the institution to the following tuition fee discounts:

Spouse / 1st Child to Enroll 50%
2nd Child to Enroll 40%
3rd Child to Enroll 30%

  2. To avail of this privilege, an Employee Privilege Form must be secured, filled out, and submitted within the prescribed period.

K. Loyalty Privilege

  1. This privilege entitles LCC high school students who continue their college education in the institution to a 50% discount for one semester.

  2. To avail of this privilege, a Loyalty Privilege Form must be secured, filled out, and submitted within the prescribed period.

NON-INSTITUTIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS

Lipa City Colleges has forged partnerships with both government and non-government organizations, resulting into additional scholarship grants that provide access to quality education to a higher number of deserving students.

A. Government Scholarship Programs

For College Students:

1. Batangas Province Scholarship Program (BAPROSA)

Given to student-residents of the province of Batangas, the grant consists of a financial assistance to be awarded to applicants who shall pass the Qualifying Examination given annually by the Provincial Assistance for Community Development (PACD) at its office in Capitol Site, Batangas City. Grantees must comply with the specific requirements set by both PACD and LCC to avail of the benefits of the program for the succeeding semesters, i.e., GPA of 2.0 and individual grades in all subjects not lower than 2.25 (grades in PE and NSTP excluded).

2. Lipa City Government College Scholarship Program

Given to student-residents of the city of Lipa, the grant consists of a semestral subsidy amounting to P25,000. Students who belong to the Top 10 graduates of their schools are qualified to avail of the grant. Application and screening are done at the Lipa City Community Affairs Office. Grantees must comply with the specific requirements set by both City Mayor�s office and LCC to avail of the benefits of the program for the succeeding semesters, i.e., GPA of 2.0 or better and individual grades in all subjects not going lower than 2.25 (grades in PE and NSTP excluded).

3. Mayor Oscar Gozos Scholarship Program

Given to student-residents of the city of Lipa, the grant consists of a financial assistance to be awarded to applicants who shall pass the Qualifying Examination to be given by the Office of the Mayor. Grantees must comply with the specific requirements set by both City Mayor�s office and LCC to avail of the benefits of the program for the succeeding semesters, i.e., GPA of 2.0 or better and individual grades in all subjects not going lower than 2.25 (grades in PE and NSTP excluded).

3. Technical Education and Skills Development Authority(TESDA) and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Scholarship Grants

The number and kinds of grants awarded by organization nos. 3 and 4 vary and the specific requirements that they have set must likewise be complied with so that students may avail of the privileges.

For High School Students:

Educational Service Contracting (ESC) Grant.

Given to financially disadvantaged but academically deserving students, this National Government-subsidized grant is awarded upon compliance with and submission of the set requirements to the Office of the High School Principal.

B. Non-government Scholarship Program

The following agencies offer scholarship grants / financial assistance to qualified students, the basis of which depends on their respective sets of criteria and / or requirements.

For College Students:

1. Jollibee�s Aral Kabuhayan Scholarship Program

  a. The grant which consists of tuition fee assistance is open to student trainees employed in the Jollibee Group of Companies and who are in any of the following year levels: 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Initial grant is valid for one semester and may be renewed upon compliance with the requirements of both Jollibee and LCC, i.e., excellent job performance and good academic standing.

  b. Application of the grant must be made at the Office of the Guidance Head.

2. SM Foundation Inc. Scholarship Program

  a. Given to financially needy but deserving public high school graduates in selected areas as determined by SM Foundation, Inc., the grant consists of matriculation, tuition and other school fees on a semestral basis. Continued receiving of the grant is subject to compliance with all the requirements set by both SM Foundation, Inc. and LCC.

  b. Application for the grant must be made at the Foundation�s office at SM City Lipa.

For High School Students

1. Norman Agojo Educational Foundation(NAEF)

The program is open to financially needy and academically gifted incoming high school students.

  a. To avail of the grant, an applicant must fill out the NAEF Scholarship Form, submit all the required documents within the prescribed period, and pass the screening that shall be conducted jointly by LCC and the representative of the benefactor.

  b. Initial grant is valid only for one school year and to avail of the benefits of the grant for the succeeding school years, the student must not have a grade lower than 80% in all subjects.
